Everything else ...
After a couple of days with a desperate urge to buy more photography light of some kind or the other today I managed to get the urge under control. I have been looking at everything from a full blown studio flash setup to second hand flashes. And not least I have been looking at equipment to aid lighting. Umbrellas, softboxes, remote triggers like RadioPopper or PocketWizard. Reason set in today and I realized that I am already the happy owner of an extra flash and an optical trigger that will do nicely for the pictures I'd like to take. So tonight I was playing with the flashes.
I have previously written about how I setup this homepage with Drupal. In Drupal you define different types of content and can then decide where on the page it has to be presented - in which block it is to be presented. I will here give a short introduction to blocks.
I have to admit, that there is a great deal in this world that I do not understand. One of them is why pictures of cars that are up for sale almost without exceptions are all of photo technical poor quality. There are loads of examples of this on Bilbasen, Bilzonen and other car selling homepages. When you want to sell something as expensive as a car, then I don't get why you don't invest the two hours it takes to get some decent pictures, and avoid the worst photo technical errors. If car selling homepages are used by buyers to sort out interesting cars, I would be sorry if my car was discarded in favor is an identical car because I didn't invest the time to get some decent pictures.
Now the first blog entry is ready on the new homepage. You have to start out gently so there will be nothing fancy this first time. But here is the story of how I set up the homepage and a bit about the issues I ran into and a bit about the thoughts I went through during the process.
